Empty Homes

In addition to leading the flagship Revive regeneration programme, NHCF played a key role in tackling housing issues through the Empty Homes Programme, launched by the government in 2012.

With targeted grant funding, NHCF renovated 12 long-term vacant properties that had fallen into disrepair, often becoming magnets for anti-social behaviour, vandalism and general neighbourhood decline. These homes were not only upgraded to meet modern living standards but were also brought back into use in a way that aligned with the charity’s vision.

Over the past decade, these revitalised properties have been let to local families experiencing homelessness, offering safe, stable housing while also contributing to wider community regeneration, improved neighbourhood aesthetics and enhanced residential pride.
