The Revive Master Plan is by far the largest and most ambitious regeneration project in North Huyton’s history, comprised of a 5-phase programme that has reshaped the physical and social landscape of the neighbourhood.

Delivered through a formal partnership between NHCF, Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC), and Livv Housing Group (formerly Knowsley Housing Trust), the programme has been driven by a shared vision for a safer, stronger more connected neighbourhood, with a much wider range of housing types and tenures.

What Revive has Involved

Following an agreed community-based plan, the three partners promised to clear a combination of 1,200 derelict and poor-quality houses, some of them still occupied, over an 8-year period. For its part, NHCF was responsible for;

  • Acquiring over 150 privately owned homes
  • Leading neighbourhood management services
  • Providing consistent ongoing communication with the community
  • Relocation support for around 300 households into modernised Livv Housing properties and new build houses.

The clearance extended beyond housing with four schools, two shopping parades and various underused public and church buildings, also removed to make way for high-quality new developments.

Community at the Centre

Two major public consultation events led by NHCF saw over 80% of residents support the proposed redevelopments. This community backing was essential in moving the plans forward and shaping what was built.

Progress and Impact

Construction began in 2007, led by developers Keepmoat Homes and Gleeson Homes.

To date, over 1,200 new homes have been built, with the final Phase 5 set to deliver another 360 properties, bringing the total to approximately 1,600 modern homes.

Within the development zones, NHCF has also worked with partners to create vibrant public spaces. Notably, a jointly funded playground, The Avenue Play Area, near Hillside Neighbourhood Centre, has become a well-used asset for local children and families.

Final Phase 5: Building a Sustainable Future

As Revive enters its final phase, NHCF continues to act as a community liaison and project manager, working towards programme completion that was started nearly two decades ago.

NHCF continues to play an active role in the community, partnering with local organisations, including those managing its two community centres, to deliver a wide range of youth programmes, community events and initiatives that keep public spaces vibrant, safe and full of opportunity.
